At Family Hearing & Sensory-Neural Center we treat every patient like family. We are careful to provide accurate diagnostic hearing evaluations, hearing treatment through personal amplification, and rehabilitation of the language memory centers of the brain through computerized auditory training. We take a personal interest in the rehabilitative progress of every patient by listening to, learning about, and responding to your individual needs.
Our Staff
Dr. Allred has lived in Huntsville, Texas since 1976 where he and his wife Lenna Allred, Ph.D. (Historian) have raised their 8 children. They are the proud grandparents of 31 grandchildren.
Dr. Allred was a professor of audiology at Sam Houston State University from 1976-1980. He has been practicing audiology in Huntsville since 1979.
He is a pioneer in the field of new born hearing screening in Texas. He was instrumental in establishing the award winning Huntsville Memorial Hospital’s Universal Newborn Hearing Screening Program in 1995, five years prior to the the state mandate in 2000.
Dr. Allred provides diagnostic hearing evaluation for all ages (newborn through adult) utilizing state of the art equipment including fiber optic video ear cleaning, ABR (Auditory Brainstem Response), OAE (Otoacoustic Emissions testing), and digital programmable hearing instrument fittings at his Family Hearing & Sensory-Neural Center in Huntsville, Texas.

Lenna Allred, Ph.D.
Lenna, Dr. Philip Allred’s wife of 40 years, manages the finances for the business while juggling her grandmotherly duties between their 31 grandchildren!
Christie Cahill
Christie is the third of 4 daughters of the Allred family, served ten years as our office manager and is now consulting for us whie working on her AuD (doctor of audiology) degree at Lamar University. She is the mother of three children.
Alysia Hurtado
The Allred’s oldest daughter, Alysia Hurtado, provides seamless office operations for our hispanic patients through her spanish translation services. She’s a busy mother of 7 children and an author and publisher of children’s books.
Kylie Hale
Kylie, our office manager and billing officer, is responsible for day to day operations of our front office. She demonstrates a brilliant grasp of the complex billing and coding issues relating to Medicare, Medicaid, Texas PACT, Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Health Care, and many other insurers with whom she works to help you recieve all the financial resources rightfully yours, and will gladly handle any questions or billing issues you may have.
Sarah Empfield
Sarah, with her engaging personality, brings to our office the presence of the “girl next door” who assures you have a comfortable experience during your visit while providing knowledgeable solutions for your questions or concerns.
Kattie Berry
Kattie manages our front desk and supervises the Texas State telephone and assistive listening devices procurement for hard of hearing patients in our area.
