Tinnitus is a noise, typically described as a ringing or humming, that comes from inside one or both ears instead of from an external sound. Watch a short video below about the definition of Tinnitus (this video does include noises that may be irritating to those with Tinnitus).

Causes of Tinnitus

A common cause of tinnitus is damage to the hearing nerve in the inner ear. This damage usually accompanies aging. Another cause, which is growing in today’s population, is exposure to loud noise. In addition, tinnitus may occur because of disease, infection, or fluid.
