Stop Feeling Powerless to Help Them Hear Better

Male spouses and parents can be very stubborn and hard to reason with. It doesn’t mean they won’t listen, but they need to feel respected and like they are solving the problem themselves, as the leader and provider. It is not only possible, but in their best interest, to help them find help.

Improved Hearing Can Restore the Joy of Life

There will always be other things people will want to spend their time doing rather than getting their hearing checked. Hearing loss is so important to address, however, because it affects everything else in life and has such an impact on overall health. Knowing the related health problems is essential.

I have been experiencing hearing loss for the past 25 years or so. I started wearing hearing aids over 20 years ago. My hearing loss has increased over the years, and I have had to get hearing aids capable of delivering higher volumes and clarity.

I first started going to Dr. Allred several years ago and am so pleased with his skills and his desire to work with a patient until the best possible hearing is accomplished.

I am a musician, and at one visit Dr. Allred had me bring my acoustic guitar with me since I had been having trouble hearing my musical tones when playing on stage with other amplified instruments. We spent a great deal of time that day. Dr. Allred was very patient, and I guess we stayed most of the afternoon and evening getting my hearing aids set properly. I also at the time worked in loud environments with noisy, heavy equipment, so he had some challenges there as well. Now I have a “universal” setting, a “music”, a “high noise”, and a “quiet” setting for times when I am in a meeting with soft talkers. With all these personalized settings, it makes my life much more enjoyable when around other people.

Dr. Cahill came along, a new graduate with her fresh approach and new technology, and has done wonders with her very caring and patient approach. She has been working with me for the last several years off and on as she was finishing with getting her degree. I can’t say enough good about her, with her obvious concern for my personal satisfaction and the most modern and latest technology she brings with her. When Dr. Allred retires some day, he will be leaving his patients in good hands with Dr. Cahill.

I am very pleased with the care the Hearing Center gives me and would recommend them to anyone, especially those who have special needs. I drive 90 miles from my home to their office for my visits because I have confidence in them.

Hi Christie,

I have a brief but compelling story to tell you. As you know, I am a 76-year-old patient of yours. I had been an amateur musician all my life until about 15 years ago when I started to lose interest in music and stopped playing. I did not even listen to music anymore, as it sounded like banging on tin cans.

After visiting you and receiving my new hearing aids, I started to regain the ability to listen to and like to hear the songs. I think that it took a while for my brain to repair some hearing functions. I have now started singing and playing my guitar again. I have a deep appreciation for your gift of making my life a bit more pleasurable. Thank you!
